Summary
Martin’s first official day as an archival assistant goes much better than he’d expected. Not that he’d expected it to be bad! He’d been quite looking forward to it actually, it’s just that Martin is generally on edge. As it happens, he needn't have worried. Tim and Sasha are lovely.
Plus there’s Jon. Even if Tim and Sasha hadn’t been perfectly lovely and easy to get along with, Martin would have been able to get through it all just for the sake of getting to spend more time with his husband during the work week.

It feels like trying to lift enormous concrete weights with his eyelids, but Jon manages to open his eyes. For a moment all he can see is a paleish blur. He blinks a few times. His eyes are gummy. His throat is so sore. The blur finally resolves into a round face with worried blue eyes behind wire-rimmed glasses. Martin.
“Are you okay?” Martin says again.

Jon overworks himself and gets ill. His assistants help (and then they all kiss).

Summary
Martin swears he used to be optimistic when he was younger. But. You spend 32 years mostly alone, eventually you start thinking practically. Martin doesn’t get things like this. He doesn’t get to stay up late in cafés with cute boys and flirt and get asked out at 4:00 in the morning.
He thinks, as he crawls back into bed half an hour later to try and salvage at least a little bit more rest before tomorrow begins, that he really hopes Jon proves him wrong. He hopes Jon sticks around.
Or: Somewhere Else, Jon and Martin get the chance to fall in love without the weight of everything they left behind.

Summary
Gerry isn’t a people person. Anyone would know it just from looking at him, and even if they somehow didn’t pick up on it from his all-black clothing and resting bitch face, his deadpan humor would probably give it away in two minutes.
Personality-wise, he’s the opposite of what a barista should be, but the thing is, he can make a damn good latte.
