Summary
Sergeant Avangeline Davis is a damn good soldier– who enjoys the savagery of her job maybe a little too much– but she's braving the impossible: an immature obsession with her superior– the epitome of tall, dark and handsome (as far as she can tell with his mask) who is, infuriatingly, completely indifferent to her.
Much to her disappointment.
Of course, there's also the looming threat of the fledgling arms dealer Strach, a war criminal no one can seem to pin down, and her ceaseless fight through the all-consuming quicksand of her past– which she seems to fall deeper into with every warm gesture the 141 bestows on her.
Betrayal, wrath, the shifting tides of trust, companionship, and lust will force her to bend her steel-plated resolve or crumple under the pressure. Will she finally give in to her desire for a family and a place in her teams' hearts? Or will she maintain her conviction that she alone is all she’s ever going to need?
