As he stared at Tav, who was quietly organizing her pack by the fire, his half-formed thoughts and ideas suddenly crystallized into a cold, perfect plan. He’d seduce her, romance her, make her feel like she was the only girl in the world. And after he had given her the night of her life, positively ruined her for anyone else, he’d begin whispering in her ear. He’d become her lover, her confidant. And then she would become his puppet. That was more than a fair trade. He’d have a gorgeous meal, his space would be guaranteed in their little group, at the top where he belonged, and then somehow, he didn’t know how, but, somehow, Tav would waltz their merry band back to Baldur’s Gate and drive a stake right through Cazador Szarr’s heart. For him. Afterwards, well, Tav had served her purpose. Then he could truly do as he pleased.
Astarion smiled a wide, real smile and finished his wine, wincing at the cheap, bitter taste.
At that moment Tav looked up from her supplies and caught him staring. He raised his empty goblet to her and she waved back, a warm smile softening her lovely features.
This was going to be so easy.

The hand removed itself from his forehead. “Temperature is normal,” Gale announced, before using its fingers to gather some stray drool that had trailed down Astarion’s jaw. Before Astarion could register the pitiful jolt of arousal at the sudden skin contact or the sheer absurdity of what Gale was doing, Gale had stuck its fingers in its mouth.
“What the —”
“No new bacteria detected,” Gale went on, “Ruling out food poisoning.”
“Oh, Gods,” Astarion groaned. “And to think that these things are what’s sending our workforce into a tizzy. What next, 'droid? Are you about to give me a rectal examination too?”
“There is no need for one at the moment,” Gale said, confused. “Unless you are seeking prostate stimulation—”
“No!”

"I like that," said Tav. She was sprawled on cushions, sorting through their supplies for dinner. "Different from the namesake, but it works. Your turn."
"The hag," Astarion suggested.
"Oh gods," said Tav. "That's an interesting one. Something that starts lovely, but with an awful surprise. Elverquisst, but there's a rotting fish at the bottom of the bottle."

A troupe-master bard is plucked up by the Nautiloid. She transitions from directing plays to directing an adventuring party and becomes immediate chaos-gremlin-besties with the rogue. This has a number of almost disastrous consequences and involves far more talking about feelings than any vampire should reasonably be expected to do.
A story about a bunch of traumatized people becoming better, because that can happen when you find yourself in a new place and suddenly have a support network.

Summary
In the low light of the fire, juxtaposed with the dark of the night, Karlach glows. Well, quite literally, her ports sputtering and smoking as her excitement mounts, but in addition, her teeth are shining, eyes gleaming like a predator and something is beginning to connect in Astarion’s head. He sees her as a beast, a creature bent low, the last thing seen before the embrace of the void with dripping maw and scraping claw.
In a moment, it clicks—she truly was the Fury of Avernus, Advocatus Diaboli, the Right Hand of Death.
And when she glances up, turns that dark, ferocious gaze on Astarion and winks at him, Astarion feels his breath hitch.

“I need you to promise me something,” Astarion says, stomach churning as he tries to figure out how to say the thing that’s been on his mind for years. “If things go badly; if you’re in danger, promise me you’ll listen to whatever I tell you. That if I tell you to run, you’ll run.”
The time has finally come for Astarion and Petra to head to the vampire colony in the Underdark to visit with his siblings and, while Astarion hadn't expected an enjoyable trip, he hadn't expected things to go quite as badly as they do.
A story of a broken and twisted family told through flashbacks and a perilous family visit that quickly goes wrong.
