Summary
There were two kinds of crew, Zuko learned quickly. Those who were indifferent to him, and those who seemed to be very aware of who he was.
It was best to stick around the first kind, the men and women Captain Jee brought aboard. They were gruff, and kept to themselves, and played incomprehensible games with coin and dice.
Sometimes, if Zuko hung around long enough and was very quiet, he would get to watch them clean, and prepare to go fishing, and do all the things needed to keep a ship running. One of them, a large man with a scar across his nose, even showed Zuko how to tie knots, proper knots, the kind that lashed the ship together and all over.
In which nothing good ever comes easy.

Summary
Your girls crowd around you, their eyes full of belated horror. We almost lost you, they say with clutching arms, desperate embraces. Thank Koshi, thank Koshi.
You stretch a hand out of this pile, and you look steadily at him until he takes it. He looks wrecked. He looks sorry. He looks nothing like the boy who set fire to your home.

Summary
Zuko choked on a sob and, impossibly, Lu Ten’s ghost gripped his hand tighter.
“I’m here, baby cousin, I’m here.” Said the ghost of Lu Ten, and Zuko felt warm fingers brush gently across his scalp, carding through Zuko’s sweat-soaked hair.
“M’ sorry that you’re dead,” Zuko wept, pressing his head feverishly into the touch, “I miss you. I miss you so much.”
Featuring a still very much alive Lu Ten, the slow revival of Zuko's self esteem, and how ending a war begins at home.

Summary
Eames doesn’t look at Arthur more than he has to during the briefing with Carter. This is usually the time where Eames would trade jabs with Arthur, poke holes into Arthur’s contingency plans, glance cursorily through Arthur’s notes and then be absolutely breathtakingly brilliant. Eames seems to be happy enough to follow Carter’s lead on this job.
Arthur doesn’t touch his face, but his bruised skin tingles with what Arthur is steadfastly not thinking of as shame. It’s part of the job. A black eye and a spilt lip from where Carter’s ring had caught mid-strike is more cosmetic than crippling.

In which nobody is a damsel in distress.

Summary
“My father, Fire Lord Azulon, is dead.”
Unthinkingly, Lu Ten reached over to grasp his father by the shoulder. At the touch, his father bowed his head, took an audible breath, and raised tearless eyes.
“My brother has assumed the throne in my absence.” Iroh said steadily, “Ready the camp, we march home at once.”
Lu Ten survives. Everything after that is up to him.

Summary
“Well,” Trent said, and smiled self-deprecatingly. “He accused me of having an affair.”
“Oh come on now. That’s bull shit.” Now Ted was angry; you could tell because he dragged the word bullshit out into two long pulls, like a mouthful of licorice. “Who the hell would you be having an affair with?”
“Ah.” Trent kept the smile in place. “Well, that’s the part you won’t believe.”

Summary
The New Inn is as close to a church as Hob can build, a monument to stories, a tribute to dreams. He has a baseball bat, 600 years of fighting experience, and an anthropomorphic representation of dreaming to impress.
In other words, no neonazis allowed.

Summary
One day, in spring, he comes to the Inn.
Hob looks up and he’s there, and the relief is blinding. He thinks tu m’as manqué, fuck, because you were missing from me feels more true than I missed you ever has. English missing was ruined for him the moment he learned the French way of it. Longing is meant to be a reflexive verb.
It would be a bad faith translation, even for him. He tells himself this is why he doesn’t say it.
He thinks at last, and that’s a doable one. So he smiles, says, “You’re late.”

Summary
"I'm in a bit of a pickle, my dear," Aziraphale said over the telephone.
Crowley was seized by immediate fury. Not even a decade, and they're at it again, he thought viciously. You'd think they'd be embarrassed enough to stay out of things for a few centuries at least, after botching the apocalypse like that.
"Who's done something to you?" hissed Crowley.
"Ah," said Aziraphale, in the quiet tone of someone who didn't mean to learn someone else's secrets and was mildly sheepish about it. "This crossword clue -- I'm stuck -- 1980s French fencer, thought you might know. It's eight letters and has a Q in it."
"Trinquet," Crowley snapped, in the tone of someone who had revealed one of his secrets and was annoyed about it.
An account pertaining to the cultivation of figs, the ecstasy of St. Theresa of Avila, the ontological uncertainty of mammoths, the nature of temptation, 2001: A Space Odyssey, and the ten years following the end of the world.
