Summary
Anne and Gilbert are reunited after two years of not speaking to one another.
Of course, it's not Anne's fault that they haven't been talking. If she had things her way, they would still be the very best of friends. No, Gilbert is the one who went and ruined things by confessing his love to her. She couldn't tell him anything other than the truth, which was that she did not love him back. She maybe didn't have to add that she would never love him, but she had a point to make, and she couldn't very well take it back after it was out there.
But it's been two years, and that's given them both a bit of a cushion and some perspective. And some time to find other people now that they weren't spending all of their time with one another.
Anne is with Roy. And she knows that Gilbert is with Christine.
So, being the Maid of Honor to his Best Man, at Diana and Fred's wedding will be fine.
It will be more than fine, in fact.
