Summary
Just when Kanae believed he’d seen enough of him, another unfairly pretty aspect of the model drew him in. Like a parched traveler, he drank in the beauty mark on his collarbone, a small detail as if inviting him to test the strength of his delicately sculpted bones.
But most crucially, above anything physical about the model— he reeked of death.
It was at that moment Kanae knew he had to have him, to make the model into his masterpiece. -

Summary
When he’d seen Kuzuha’s wide eyes and slightly parted mouth at the words, “I killed a person yesterday”, Kanae wanted to laugh. He had taken a moment to enjoy Kuzuha’s shocked face, the summer sun’s brilliance creating a spotlight on the amusing expression.
He probably wasn’t a nice person.

“Flowers suit you,” Kanae muttered, holding a decapitated rose up to Kuzuha’s face.
The proximity of his hand was near burning next to his cheek, and Kuzuha strained to not fall into habit, from leaning into the touch. He instead broke the intimate eye contact, gazing without purpose at the elegant stone architecture around the garden.
“They don’t suit you”, Kuzuha thought.

“Then it’s settled.”
A meeting of their eyes, one pair deep scarlet, the other a spiritual grey. Kanae reached his pinkie out to his best friend, inviting— no, telling him to link his own pinkie in a silent promise. Kuzuha obliged, and a cruel secret of forever was made.
The rest of the season was spent in these quiet moments of sacredness beneath the obscured sun. Kuzuha’s voice was roughened by the end of each day, he’d never spent that much time talking. He wanted to tell Kanae about everything, watch him throw his head back in laughter and see perfectly aligned teeth flash a grin just for him. There was no need for the excessive words though, a mere change in posture told the other everything.
Bittersweet, was their winter.
