An incandescent dream, warm light from colorful birthday candles, the smile on Kai’s face when he turned nineteen, back before the world crumbled and caved in. The five of them gathered around the table, the butterflies in Yeonjun’s chest when he leaned over to smack a daring kiss on Kai’s cheek. The disgusted squawking and shrieking that erupted from the others just to morph into teasing laughter. Hooting and hollering when Kai was bold enough to seek revenge by kissing him back on the mouth.

    Everything was so beautiful when they were unaware of the end.
