“Just over there.” G’raha says, turning so that Riva can look over the Narrow. “Is the land that built your parents. That gave us the strength to overcome countless trials and find our way here, to you.”
Riva looks, though mostly to see what’s stolen her father’s attention. She mumbles in her tender baby speak and then slams her palms against his cheeks and says something that sounds enough like dada for his eyes to go all soft and misty.
