“He’s going to succeed,” Titus whispered. “Next time - Livvy, what do we do?” He hadn’t called her that since they were children.
Olivia lifted her head and winced, but forced herself to focus on him.
“Listen to me. When it happens,” she took a shaky breath, already on the verge of despair at the thought. “When he cuts us apart, you’re going to run. I’ll do my best to distract him, to leave an opening for you to escape. You’re going to fly away and get as far away from him as you can.”
“No.” Titus shook his head furiously. “Never. I’ll never leave you.”
“Yes, you will.” Her eyes burned with intensity and she knew with everything inside of her that she needed to make Titus understand just how important he was. “You’re going to go find Elliot. Go find Mary. They’ll take care of you.”
Titus looked at her as a single tear fell from his eye. She’d never seen him cry before. She didn’t even know swans could cry.
“Elliot will take care of you.”
