Summary
For once, the train to Venice left Rome on time, which feels like divine intervention. Aldo clutches his overnight bag as the train rolls into the station and gets to his feet too quickly, holding onto the back of his seat as the train jerks to a halt. He waits for a small family of two children and a single mother wrangling a stroller to pass him by, smiling quickly at the mother in question, before he follows them to the doors and steps onto the platform.
The last time he came here, someone on Goffredo’s staff was waiting for him to escort him to the Palazzo Patriarcale. This time, he disembarks and makes his way to the exit alone. No one is waiting for him, for one very simple reason:
He hasn’t told Goffredo he’s coming.
Or: snapshots of a year.

Summary
Vincent has never been a man to meddle, but there are times where the hand of God outweighs his desire to leave things as they are.
He watches one argument between Goffredo and Aldo and suddenly he feels God's hand guiding him towards actions that he thought would bring forth change, but what it brought were the opening of old wounds and the resurfacing of pain thought to be long forgotten.
Aldo and Goffredo do not know this, but through the hand of God, they will come together as they were always meant to do.
