Summary
They didn’t plan to see each other. Not here. Not tonight.
But in a shitty bar after long missions—Dazai tired of the ADA, Chuuya sick of the Mafia—they find each other again.
It’s not love. Not exactly. It’s tired hands, bruised hearts, and the kind of sex that feels like clinging to something before it disappears. And when the fucking is over, they don’t talk about what it meant.
They just walk home in silence. Together.Bookmarked by milluvbin

Summary
Dazai was ready for sleep, not a mascara-smeared ex-partner showing up at his door smelling like whiskey and bad decisions.
But when Chuuya says, “I missed you,” and curls into his bed like he belongs there—well. Dazai’s not as heartless as he pretends to be.

Summary
Akutagawa pauses and rubs his eyes as a distressed sigh leaves his mouth. It’s futile to even think about a proper’s night rest, though he won’t deny it would be a delight. He leans back on the chair and looks over all the papers on his desk. There is no clue that could point out the right direction in which the search for the Jinko should go. Akutagawa sighs again and looks at his watch. 02:54 AM.
It’s been 16 days since Nakajima Atsushi went missing. He is definitely not worried.

Summary
Dazai had a habit of pushing people away, never really letting them get close enough to see through the mask he wore every day. Especially since Oda’s death. The fear of being known but misunderstood seemed far worse than the fear of being alone.
So he typically existed in solitude, even around others. So while he’d receive a solid “happy birthday” from Kunikida, a shared snack from Ranpo, kind words from his other coworkers, and maybe even a card if he was lucky, he’d still feel that detachment. Almost as if everything was fake and just another part of his performance in life. That must be where the loneliness came from. Dazai couldn’t even find it in himself to be upset about that, because it was his own damn fault. He was lonely because he chose to live that way.
Or
Dazai hates his birthday, and does what he can to get through it. However, this year he’s pleasantly surprised to discover that it doesn’t have to be so bad.
