Summary
Angel has always been ready to die. He’s been prepared to die for a while, not in an actively suicidal way but an “eh, if it happens it happens” sort of way. Existence is exhausting and Angel loathes the feeling of exhaustion. If death chose to take him at any moment he wouldn’t really care because then he at least wouldn’t be tired.
Angel has always been ready to die so he doesn’t know why he suddenly finds that there’s a small piece of himself desperate to stay alive.

Summary
Mr. Mo’s expression did nothing to help his case. He looked extremely stressed whenever Zizhen started questioning his upbringing, and he often flubbed his answers. “Maybe I was homeschooled,” he posited.
“Were you?” Zizhen pressed.
“... I don’t know.”
“You don’t know?! You can’t remember if you went to elementary school or stayed home?”
“My memory is bad!” Mr. Mo insisted.
“You have an eidetic memory!”
Mr. Mo scratched his nose shyly. “Eidetic… photographic… something like that.”
“So then what did your classroom look like?!” Zizhen asked.
Mr. Mo smacked the whiteboard with his expo marker, forcing the students to refocus on the notes he had written. “Hydrogen bonding,” he said pointedly. “A dipole-dipole attraction. If you’re not about to tell me which three elements hydrogen can bond to in this manner, then your hand should not be raised.”

In Ios, weeks after the Regent's fall, a weary Counselor Herode stumbles upon a recently crowned Laurent for an illuminating exchange.
"A feeling began to come over Herode, something akin to dread, as he asked. "Are the flowers for the King of Akeilos?"
"Yes." Laurent said without inflection, after a slight hesitation. "I- last night the King and I were having a discussion and I said some things that were... less than diplomatic. It's important at this stage, for both our countries, that Damen and I be as cohesive as possible and project stability. We can't afford distractions, and I want to smooth this matter over as quickly as possible."
"I see." Herode said. "So you, the King, have come yourself, after dark, to collect a bouquet of flowers with hidden meanings... all for the sake of international relations?"
