  Summary

  With a series of button presses John could probably do in his sleep by now, he brings up the video feed on the rover shed, watching the nine little robots mill about the rocky plains doing… whatever they’re supposed to be doing. He honestly has no idea, and he’s not convinced his employers do either. He missed a report once and it took a month for the higher-ups to notice. At this point he could probably lie, say three of them caught fire and not get anything more than a check with money for repairs.
  He won’t do that, though, as tempting as it gets. Instead, he goes by the book, phoning up his only favorite coworker to deliver the daily report. He never bothers with the officialities, but John does. He doesn’t know why, really. The guy probably thinks it’s fun, and if so John can’t blame him. God knows this place needs some fun. “Hey, it’s John. The rovers look fine. Awaiting report—”
