Tommy is- was, a normal human civilian. There was nothing special about him; he had no powers, he wasn't a hybrid, and (as much as he didn't like to admit it) he was pretty weak. So, why were his days repeating? Why couldn't he just do the simple task of moving onto the next day?
All he knew was that he was going to get out. Whether that would be in days, months, or years, he would get out.
