Summary
After Shane unexpectedly leaves Ilya's in Boston, coping becomes hard for Ilya. Provided with some hefty painkillers for an injury, Ilya finds a way to numb the pain in his head, too. When Ilya loses control and takes a few too many pills before a game, it seems that the similarities between himself and his mother could become his undoing. Luckily, Shane steps in to carry Ilya home.

Hayden snorted, but he still looked sympathetic, "Yeah, man, I figured. You don't talk about her."
Without thinking, he flinched. It just was such a gut punch. He wanted to talk to someone about Ilya. It was surprising in how much he wanted to talk to someone about this. This whole fucking mess. Here he was talking to Hayden about his personal life, his family, and Hayden didn't know anything about that side of his life. Nobody knew.

Shane was speechless, and Ilya was unknowingly saying the sweetest things to him without even knowing. Shane's eyes started to water. He loved Ilya so much. He had watched for years as the man he loved slowly disappeared. turning into a shell of the strong, smart, cunning man Shane once knew.
"We did a commercial," Ilya said, grabbing Shane's attention. He knew what he was talking about.
"You did?" Shane replied to keep him talking.
"Yes, it was hockey something, very early, I was very young," Ilya said, waving his hand trying to bring the rest of the story to him.

Summary
“Um. Hi,” Shane starts, looking down at the boy. The boy just looks up at him, a puzzled expression on his face.
“кто ты?” The boy says in some funny language Shane has never heard of.
“Um.. I only speak English.”
The boy's eyebrows furrow, but he doesn’t seem all too deterred by the language barrier. Instead, he hands Shane a piece of pink chalk. He points to the drawing he’s been working on, saying something in that funny language again
Or: Shane Hollander and Ilya Rozanov meet when they are six. They aren’t rivals, but they still fall in love. Some small moments in that process.
