“Let me clear things up: I’m not back in town to fix the nemeton and save Scott’s pack. He’s had his turn. I’m here because Beacon Hills has had a shitty stretch of alphas and someone needs to properly claim the territory. And, since no one else is going to step up, I guess I will.”
“So, what? You propose to be Alpha?”
Stiles absolutely does not think of the Alpha power he somehow received when he was in France, the spark of red that slithered up his skin and settled in his bones. The Alpha spark that he keeps contained on his chest, right over his heart, held in place by nothing more than a celtic knot of mountain ash and his belief.
“If you don’t shut your trap and let me go fix the nemeton, no one’s going to be Alpha of Beacon Hills. We’ll figure out the rest later.”

Derek flies through the Stilinksi's front door, claws out, snarling as his eyes flash blue. He's expecting dismemberment at best - death at worst. At least a little blood. Instead, he finds Stiles sprawled on the couch in a pair of threadbare pajama pants and a BHPD t-shirt that was clearly from before his last growth spurt.
"Stiles, you texted me 'SOS need help get here ASAP.'"
"Dude, it's a real emergency!" Stiles gestures at the TV where the Netflix home screen is casting a gentle glow around the room.
"An emergency."
"Yeah, man. I can't watch Christmas movies by myself! It's Christmas! And you, dude, are not only a perfect wolf-y blanket of warmth, but you need some joy and happiness in your life!"

And it didn't matter that they didn't last, none of them did, because Bucky was still dating them. Taking them out. Smiling at them. Laughing. And then sometimes he would invite Steve, too. Like it wasn't bad enough to see his best friend go out on dates with people that weren't him, he had to go out with him and witness it all first hand.
