Eddie gestures up. Around in a circle. Then just watches his hand travel in the air, distracted by his own rings. “Thanks man, yeah, that helps so much,” Harrington says, meanly, when the pause stretches on. “Great fucking talking to you.”
“Does it matter where?”
“Kind of why I asked,” Harrington says.
Eddie pushes himself upright.
“Your—young squire,” he says. “Has a lot of—biology homework. Of late.”
“Fuck,” Harrington says.

He makes doenjang-guk and stacks of shredded zucchini fritters; Elijah eats nearly all of them herself.
“Do I get one?” Yohan huffs.
Gaon hides a laugh in a fake cough. Drinks his water. Elijah grudgingly deposits a fritter into Yohan’s dish. Later, he and Yohan go and interrogate a man together in a warehouse. On the ride home Gaon thinks about buying carrots, making carrot salad, a lot of it. It’ll keep well in the fridge. Maybe it was the gold bars that made him think of the color. He is probably losing his mind.

“But I...?” Hargrove asks, after long enough for Steve to go nose-blind to the furyragekillmaimkill scent, the Alpha’s jaw set and hands clenched in his pockets and eyes so easy, so blue, so- pretty. God, Steve should stop looking. Should look away, any second now. “Spit it out, doe-eyes. Don’t got all day.”
God, he has to stop looking at him.
“You call me Captain,” Steve answers, finally breaking eye contact to look instead at Hargrove’s fingers flicking his lighter again and again. Steve hopes the words say what he can’t: you were kind to me. From the way his fingers still, and the soft, barely-there pleased surprise blooms in Hargrove's scent beneath the rage, Steve thinks they might.
Or: Billy moves to the deadest part of the United States, meets the prettiest boy he's ever fucking seen, starts writing poetry, and everything - literally everything, from common courtesy to the food chain in Hawkins to his already-rocky home life to something so basic as his secondary gender - goes to fucking shit. For the better. Steve has panic attacks, spends most of his time alone, and swallows everything he's ever felt on reflex. And then he meets Billy, and everything gets, well- better. Much better.

The second the nurse was gone, the bed next to Steve squeaked, and the curtain was yanked aside to show him his own face, bruised, cut, and weirdly shaped outside of a mirror. “Shut up, Harrington,” it hissed, and Steve made a noise in the back of his throat, like a dog. “Shut up. If you say anything, they’ll lock us up, cool your jets—”
Steve tried to talk again, and made a perfectly reasonable squawk this time.
“Shut up shut up,” hissed his face. “They won’t believe you, we’ll never get out of here—” It yanked its arm, and Steve registered it was handcuffed as well. That thought was reassuring, and Steve drank the water when the nurse returned and pressed the straw between his lips, falling asleep content that the thief that had stolen his face wasn’t going anywhere.
The car crash with Billy Hargrove has some unexpected results--for one, Billy thinks Steve rescued him for Reasons, and wants to kiss. Steve is reluctantly warming to the attention, and to top it off, they're...each other.
