Summary
POV: Es ist 1778, der Unabhängigkeitskrieg steuert auf seinen blutigen Höhepunkt zu und Claire hat in die Ehe mit Lord John Grey eingewilligt. Was wäre, wenn Jamie nicht wiedergekommen wäre? Wie würde LJG´s und Lady John Greys gemeinsames Leben aussehen, in dem Claire erneut auf der falschen Seite des Krieges stünde, statt auf der von George Washington? Welche Konflikte würden sie als unkonventionelles Ehepaar ausstehen und wie bewältigen sie den tragischen Verlust von der totgeglaubten Liebe ihres Lebens? Jamie trifft nach einer langen Reise aus Frankreich -dank Mercy Woodcocks Hilfe- mitten in das Kriegschaos auf seine Frau und seinen besten Freund. Einige Momente, nachdem Lord John Grey und Jamie Fraser sich aus dem Lager geschlichen haben, hört Claire den Gesang von Fanny Pocock- wie ist das möglich? Völlig fassungslos begibt sie sich auf die Suche nach William Ransom. Leider ohne Erfolg.
