Ford spends the afternoon cleaning the cabin while Stan is out at port getting supplies. While gathering their dirty clothes piled in their bedroom, he finds a special pair of Stan's boxers. This leads to reminiscing about their first weeks onboard, and how he can rekindle that spark that he hopes they still have.

Summary
Ford really did want to sail off with Stanley. He thought he might get the chance, he thought they might truly have a happy ending. He hoped for it every night… up until he started showing.
The roundness of his stomach isn’t severe, but it feels grotesque, bulging, and overly warm. At first, he thought that he was gaining weight, finally recovering from the frantic hypervigilance of his life in the portal. He was happy— that’s what happens to people with loved ones, safety, and security, right? They gain weight. They balance out. They change.
But Ford wasn’t changing because he was happy for the first time in his life. He was growing.
Enough to push against the fabric of his sweater, enough that he can no longer ignore it in the mirror when he makes the mistake of glancing upwards as he brushes his teeth each morning. Enough that he has to accept it.
Bill Ciper’s spawn is developing inside of his body.

However, Stan’s self-loathing still runs deep, and it’s taking the form of reckless choices and dangerous actions. It used to be Ford would have had just the answer, but Stan doesn’t remember how they used to handle problems between them as kids. What is Ford to do, and can he get through to Stanley before it’s too late?
