I'll come back to this with coherent thoughts once I'm able to forumulate them... I've been reading fanfic for so long that hardly anything surprises me anymore. This did, though. I can't overstate how good it was. I was expecting, at some point, for the author to wrap up the story neatly and give the reader what they want. Instead you have to keep pressing on. I read the whole thing obsessively in one day. It's just one of those stories. You never get bored. It becomes realer than real life. The drama was never forced, and the descriptions blew me away. It was mostly about Sasuke's relationship with Kakashi... but like a life-changingly insane interpretation of that relationship. Some of the scenes, esp. the funeral pyre are genuinely amazing fiction. The last scene outside the bar actully killed me, but the whole ending was exactly what it needed to be... (clawing at the walls) I enjoyed this fic a completely normal amount. I couldn't eat my lunch at work because I was too heartbroken... like that hollow after-crying empty feeling... I can't even go back through and pick out some quotes to put here (as is my custom) because it's too sad... but like it's sad in a very real and beautiful way. its not misery porn it just feels like it had to happen that way... screaming crying throwing up etc etc. if youre a sasuke fan this fic is "like injecting heroin into your arm" (quote generously provided by arundhati roy's literary agent)
