And look. Dustin is thrilled that they like each other. He's wanted them to be friends ever since that day the first week of the school year when Eddie had seen him and Mike and Lucas looking lost in the cafeteria and shepherded them over to his table, invited them to Hellfire, and secured his 'honorary big brother' spot alongside Steve in Dustin's estimations. He's happy they like each other so much - ever since their time sequestered together at Hawkins lab under Dr. Owens' care, they've been as thick as thieves, frequently spending time together alone and sharing a bunch of inside jokes (which is a little bit rude, honestly, and Dustin absolutely doesn't just think so because he's a touch jealous). He just wishes, sometimes, that the two of them weren't such stubborn dumbasses so that they could see what everyone else sees and realize how much they like each other.
OR
Dustin Henderson is beyond delighted that his two favourite people not only survived being eaten alive, but have become fast friends in the process.
He just wishes they were a little less dumb, so they can see what everyone else does.
