But this isn’t a painless cut beneath the surface of a swimming hole during the sweltering summers of southern Louisiana; there’s no triumphant emerging from the pond and bragging to your friends that that twenty-five foot cliff wasn’t shit, and there’s no hoisting your body up onto the bank so you can do it again.
Instead, there’s the sudden impact of Sam’s palm against the cold cement outside of the latest building he and Bucky have found themselves infiltrating, the wind that gets blown out of his lungs with the fall, and the stifled grunt he makes in hopes of not giving his position away.
