"But then you would see me."

    "And is that so dreadful?"

A pause, silence not as absence, but as presence withheld. He fears he’s said too much, or worse, exactly the wrong thing. Foolishly, he touches the wall again, as if it might soften, peel away, let him through. It doesn’t.

"If you saw me," she says at last, voice quieter now, stripped of its earlier irony, "we would be breathing the same air. Sharing the same... dimensions. I do not—" her breath hitches, "I do not share space, Professor. It constricts. Collapses."

    "What does?"

"The space," she replies, flatly. "I already told you."

In a house untouched by ghosts, Emmrich Volkarin falls irrevocably in love with a girl who hides behind the wall.

    Summary

Originally an arvaarad, Ozol Adaar fled the Qunari with his saarebas when he was unable to tolerate the way that the Qun was being twisted to justify his saarebas' suffering. Once in the South, he renamed himself Özil, but, with time, he slowly became "Ozol" thanks to the non-Qunari accents of his newfound kith. Despite being one of the most physically imposing of the Valo-Kas, Ozol devoted himself to a life of pacifism and budgetary management, much to the confusion of the Inquisition.

As the Inquisitor, Ozol does his best to shoulder his new responsibilities. As a once-was-arvaarad, he knows what it means to be the one that holds back evil. This time, however, it's actually true.

    Summary

Dorian's long-time friend, Emmrich, has had his narrow yet bounteous ass dumped (again), and there's only one thing for it:

Goth Night at The Pawn Shop, the fourth-most popular gay bar in Minrathous, where he might hopefully meet a rebound (some fellow Mae and Varric know named Rook).

Only problem is: There's this annoying little punk buzzing around trying to pick up Emmrich, and Dorian is honor-bound to protect his friend.

A farce of queer friendship, verbose cattiness, Goth music, mistaken identities, eyeliner, tequila, and... love (ugh).

All pain, until it's not. Intense (occasionally frustrating) Emmrook pining, intense (occasionally often horrifying) traumatic experiences, intense (loving) resolution.

    Summary

Forensic pathologist, Emmrich Volkarin, meets the woman who has been hired to landscape the cemetery that neighbours his home. As their paths intersect and they grow swiftly closer, Emmrich finds himself battling his feelings. Battling his feelings, and growing dangerously close to failing, something Rook only seems to encourage.

And it wasn’t just her forthright, sometimes clumsy, always charming physical overtures, which were already staggering: to be desired by someone young and splendid. It was her trust. The way she looked at him like he had all the answers. The way she opened her heart to him, even as he held his back by a leash. It couldn’t be as it appeared: it simply wasn’t possible. No matter how pure her intentions, women like her did not settle for men like him.

    Bookmarker's Notes

Well-written modern Emmrook with a solid emotional narrative, and a conclusion that refects on its major themes.
