Summary
“Can you recall what happened before we arrived?” Aramis asks, eyes soft and worried.
Athos frowns, swallowing and pressing the heel of his hand against his forehead, squeezing his eyes shut.
“Yes.”
“We need to talk,” Porthos says, firm.
“No.”

Summary
Constance finds Aramis while out on a midnight walk, and realizes that the reasons for his sleepless nights are not always as pleasant as she and others have thought.
It can be easy to be lulled into the trap of thinking that a lover such as Aramis, eager for many an amorous thrill up to and including more unconventional (read: violent) ways of lovemaking, would be eager for all things and at all times. But reality, of course, is not so simple as that.

Treville grants Aramis leave to visit Forges-les-Eaux in a desperate bid to regain his health after Savoy, and tasks two of the newest Musketeers to escort him there.
A.K.A. a “how the Inseparables met” fic, and a “what if Show!Treville granted Aramis leave to go to Forges-les-Eaux for healing the same way Book!Treville gives leave to Athos and his three closest friends, except here it isn’t a ruse and Aramis’s travel partners look a bit more like enemies than friends at present?” fic.

Summary
” He slams the last man to the ground in a heap and turns, breathlessly, to see the Musketeer toeing a fallen body with his boot, hand flexing around the grip of his sword. The man looks up and smiles, dazzling and so easy it startles Porthos.
The moment stretches, all ticing muscles and huffs of breath.
“Aramis,” the man says, holding out his hand.
“Porthos,” he answers, not taking it.
“Good to meet you. I think we should probably run now,” the Musketeer says amiably, flicking his head at something over Porthor’s shoulder. He hears footsteps from the alley behind him, and without even bothering to look, follows Aramis’s sprinted flight.
Why the hell is he going with this man?
But the string tugs, and he follows.
”OR, How Porthos met a Musketeer named Aramis, got his scar, left the Court of Miracles, and began to really live.

Summary
He wondered sometimes, if it was a punishment he was inflicting on himself, forcing himself to look at what he could not bear to see in that forest, two years ago: his friends, broken down into their component parts, organs and arteries, muscle and bone. And though it turned his stomach so often he began to grow pale and wan, it was a compulsion he could not bear to end.
**
Two years after Savoy, and learning how to treat the wounded has become an obsession for Aramis. Everything comes to a head when Athos is hurt in a botched assassination attempt on the King. Porthos frets.
The title is from the Prayer of St Francis, and translates as 'An Instrument Of Your Peace'.

Summary
Athos and Porthos are standing with Aramis propped up between them, his arms slung around their shoulders. He seems barely conscious, his head drooping toward his chest, dark curls tumbling down and partially obscuring what she can see is a bloodied face. There's more blood on his shirt, lots of it – far more than could have come from his face and head. d'Artagnan is kneeling in front of the fireplace arranging kindling to get a fire started, but pauses at the sound of Constance's voice, head snapping to look at her. His eyes are wide and frantic.
"We're going to need candles," he says.

Written for Whumptober 2025 day 3, for the prompt 'candlelight'. -

Summary
Constance feels like she’s full of tinder, a girl all dried out and crackling from twenty-three years of scurried acquiescence and unquestioned duty. And all it will take is one tiny spark to set her aflame.
**
Or, how Constance Bonacieux met Athos the Musketeer, and began to live.
I've been wondering how Constance and Athos met, and why she would contemplate risking her reputation and life for him - how she changed slowly from a dutiful wife to someone wilful, brave and strong.
I also wanted to see Athos get kicked in the balls, because that's never not funny.
This could be read as Constance/Athos if that floats your boat. Warnings for mentions of Athos' alcoholism. Slight hurt/comfort. (Constance basically wants to hug Athos, very much)

But the blood, the blood, the blood - there’s none left in him, in anyone any more. It was all shed in that clearing, on that night, pints and gallons of it until the snow was red and curdled. There’s nothing left to give.
A tragedy, in reverse.

Summary
“ This feels like one of those things that you all know but aren’t telling me.” Aramis’ voice is a little wild. “And I hate those things. Someone please tell me. Whatever the thing is that you all know that I don’t.”
“He really doesn’t know,” says d’Artagnan, disbelieving and almost to himself. “Does he own a mirror?”
“Of course I own a mirror!”
“Several,” Porthos offers.’
*
In which Aramis is utterly oblivious to the fact that he looks like that.

Summary
In response to an off-hand comment in another of my fics about "that time when Aramis was chained up in that cellar and they kept him awake for days, and when we got him back he was raving about his boots trying to eat him.”
As usual for me, this was meant to be a light-hearted little fic, or as light-hearted as something involving torture and interrogation can ever be, but has since turned reeeeal angsty.
TW: torture, abuse, religious guilt, mentions of sexually transmitted disease, insanity, swearing.
'How can he be sure that he is really here? Perhaps he does have the Neapolitan Disease. Perhaps he’s gone mad. He might be lying in his bed, in his room. He might be the King of France. He might be dead, or might never have been. Perhaps Aramis is just a dream. Whose dream? A woman? A man. Or a horse. Why would a horse dream of Aramis, dying of the pox chained to a horse mill? Perhaps there had been an Aramis - an Aramis who is not him, because he is a dream - and this Aramis had wronged the horse at some point and now the horse is dreaming of its vengeance.'
