Summary
Charlie Spring is a poet/barista, working in the local queer coffee shop with Isaac and Sahar. The owners, Nathan and Youssef also use the shop to sell queer books and art, including a small book of erotic poems by Francis Primavera. Nick has just moved into the neighborhood after ending a relationship when they realized they were going in different directions. Trying to explore his new community, Nick picks up a few things to read at the local coffee shop. He can't help noticing the cute barista, but his heart (and libido) have been captured by an author he's never met. Or so he thinks.

As I hurtled along the pavement, my eyes fixed to Google Maps, I barely had time to think about the fact that in approximately one minute, I was going to be face-to-face with my ex-boyfriend for the first time in almost six months. More importantly, it meant I could pretend – both to Oliver Blackwood and to myself – that any unattractively sweaty, out-of-breath shakiness was due to having run the five minutes between the tube stop and the pub where we were meeting. No, actually, that was more than a little embarrassing. Perhaps I’d tell Oliver it was ten minutes – although he was the kind of considerate wanker who’d have checked my route in advance to make sure the pub wasn’t too far out of my way, so he’d know I was lying, but would be too well-mannered to point it out.
