Charlie Spring is a poet/barista, working in the local queer coffee shop with Isaac and Sahar. As I hurtled along the pavement, my eyes fixed to Google Maps, I barely had time to think about the fact that in approximately one minute, I was going to be face-to-face with my ex-boyfriend for the first time in almost six months. More importantly, it meant I could pretend – both to Oliver Blackwood and to myself – that any unattractively sweaty, out-of-breath shakiness was due to having run the five minutes between the tube stop and the pub where we were meeting. No, actually, that was more than a little embarrassing. Perhaps I’d tell Oliver it was ten minutes – although he was the kind of considerate wanker who’d have checked my route in advance to make sure the pub wasn’t too far out of my way, so he’d know I was lying, but would be too well-mannered to point it out.

Nick and Charlie meet for the first time at a dog park. Charlie saves a dog from an abusive dickhead and Nick falls a little bit in love. Unfortunately, there are a couple problems with Nick's budding crush. First, it's in the middle of the pandemic, and casually visiting strangers is not exactly a responsible thing to do. Second, Nick is famous. Really famous. Like, A-list actor famous. And between the chaos at the dog park and the whole wearing-a-mask thing, it's possible that Charlie didn't pick up on that minor detail. Shenanigans ensue.
The original story includes chapters 1-8, completed January 4, 2023. Chapter 9 is a bonus scene.
