    Summary

She steps even closer, having to crane her neck up to keep holding her intense gaze onto him. Her eyes are red rimmed and shiny, like she's trying not to cry.

"Yes," Annabeth grits out. "You." She pushes up on her toes, leaning further into him with each word. They're basically nose to nose.

"You, Percy Jackson, are a coward."

A little re-write of this scene in The Last Olympian with some added tension and angst.

Percy wasn’t meant to hear the moment when his father found out that he existed.

(An all-human, no powers PJO AU, in which Percy loses a mother and gains a father that doesn't want him, a brother that doesn't like him, and an entirely excessive extended family he never asked for. Somehow it's even more complicated than it sounds)

He magicked them dry. “So — this is happening.”

“No,” she said, mortified, immediately. “No. This was the last time.” She pointed at him. “I hope you enjoyed that, because it’s not happening again.”

In retrospect, (repeatedly) hooking up with her rival — the son of her mom's least favorite god — was not a good idea, especially not when Annabeth's vowed to beat him in the hero rankings or die trying.

In which Percy fell into Hell and thought it was the end, but Poseidon is too much of a protective, fierce father to let his son rot there, so he brought Percy home — but what he brought back isn’t exactly Percy anymore. He still has sea-glass green eyes but if one looks close enough, they’ll see gold too.

Or in which Percy ascends after Tartarus and Poseidon is ten times more of a protective father (and he doesn’t pretend he doesn’t revel in his son’s newfound power).

    Summary

Percy was four years old the first time his dreams led him to his many-great-grandmother’s chambers- a woman long dead yet somehow still seated in front of him, fingers grasping at her hair tightly as she wails about a wooden horse on the beach while her servants look on in pity. He feels the weight of something ancient and heavy settle on his shoulders in that moment.

He was in his 1st grade classroom when his teacher screamed at him for making up lies about gods and monsters and scaring the other children. He was eight when his mother's own visions become too much for her to bear.

He's at Yancy when Grover Underwood finally finds him and says "I believe you" for the first time. And as Percy begins to feel lighter, that ancient weight that has followed him his whole life slowly dissipating, he realizes that being believed can be just as horrifying as being thought mad.
