Summary
He is a young thing, ethereal in its immaturity, milky white in complexion and clothing alike, silk and linen draping over his shoulders, a golden blanket of curls like the sacred halo of a saint framing his face, a braid cascading down his back.
His eyes hold the color of all the seas that lie unexplored to Louis.
“Madame,” the hoarse depth of his voice is almost comical, contrasting with the unreal delicacy of his features, the ephemeral nature of his being. The boy bends down to kiss the back of his mother’s hand, but she seems disgusted by the mere touch. “Forgive my late arrival, you have such a beautiful home, it would have been a shame not to stop and look at it.”OR

Summary
“Do you think she loves you?” Louis laughs then, cruelty defending his butchered heart, in his chest that’s too exposed. “Do you think she cares about you? You’re her little fuck toy she uses to fuck some bitches in her perverted games. If she could, she’d keep only this part of you—maybe even your little hole. How many times have you let your mommy fuck you, Les?”
“She loves me” he sounds like the anguished howl of a dog being put down, as copious, scarlet tears stream from his eyes while he raises an elbow to cover his mouth.
He looks like an angel, Louis allows himself to look closely at him in his pain. His lost, wounded and fallen angel, rejected by the heavens the moment he was born. Louis would like nothing more than to hold him in his arms, to promise him that everything will turn out all right, in the end.
“Oh, really?” he says instead. “You had a daughter, and you loved her—even you can’t deny that. Tell me, then, would you have done that to Claudia?”

Summary
His hair falls across his face as he makes a slow, half-hearted attempt to sit up. He can smell it now—a rich, heady scent that intoxicates his every sense. It smells of amber, of caramel, of butter melting on his skin. It smells of gooseberries, peonies, and sweet Lambrusco.
It smells like Louis.
It is this realization that frees him from his own complacency, and Lestat feels it then—the sound of his own heart stopping to mimic that of another, the one beating confidently and freely at his side. His body is wrapped in a thick woolen blanket; beneath it slips the silk of a pajama that does not belong to him. He lies on pillows, feeling his feet dangle off the edge of a—couch?
“Good morning, sleeping beauty,” that voice, frankly far too amused, reaches him from the opposite couch, across a hideous slate coffee table.
OR
Lestat collapses from an overdose during one of his concerts. Louis decides it's time to get him clean, whether he likes it or not. -

Summary
The hand is intact too. There is a small brownish mole on his wrist, so similar to Lestat's—but no, it must be ash that accidentally fell on that exact spot. His fist is clenched, curled up on itself. It is a typical sign of suffering, one that Louis has learned to recognize in the hands of all his victims. He can see a ring on his ring finger. It is a beautiful gold wedding band, adorned with two emeralds at each end. It is the same as Lestat's.
OR
Lestat dies during Mardi Gras, his body burning before Louis has the sense to pull him from the flames.
Sooner or later, while wandering around Europe, he becomes obsessed with the concept of resurrection.

Summary
“Let me clear things up for you, Lestat." Winnie lifts out of her seat and leans across the table, pearl necklace dangling from her throat. “I’m a fairy. A homosexual. A downright nuisance – and I like to get dolled up. So don’t you worry about whether or not I’m a woman. You just enjoy yourself tonight. Maybe you and Louis could learn a thing or two about being human.”
Louis grins, clearly endeared, and bumps his shoulder against Lestat. “We’d love that, wouldn’t we, Lestat?”
Lestat nods vigorously and flattens his hands on the table. Winnie takes in the sight of his long fingernails and shimmering rings. “I am your student,” says Lestat. "Miss Winnie.”
Louis introduces Lestat to some old friends from Storyville. Lestat realizes he doesn't know what it means to be a man.

Summary
“Louis?”
Louis appears startled. “Yeah?” he asks.
Lestat purses his lips in an attempt to keep the tears in. He straightens his spine, holds his chin high, dares to flash a smile that looks way too forced, but it goes away too quickly.
He clears his throat, but it still comes out shaky, a croak, even, when he asks, “Who is Daniel Molloy?”
-
Almost three years after Louis and Lestat stood in each other’s arms at the center of an abandoned shack, while a violent hurricane threatened their city just outside, they have discovered a newfound balance for this new century. Lestat has his music, Louis has his clubs and his art, but there’s still a dedicated corner for each other in both of their lives. Toeing the lines of sex and love, the hope that they might use the new century to be better is just around the corner.
That is, of course, until Daniel Molloy publishes his book.
