Summary
The more he looks at it, the more certain he becomes. This is, without a doubt, a Rukkhashava mushroom. But, illogically, it’s pink, not blue like it should be. And the strangest part—Tighnari was, in a way, expecting this.
When the caged bird flies free and wisdom returns to its source, Sumeru’s people begin again to dream.

Summary
“Why do you think you’re from a different world?” Mydei asks.
“Last night, I went to sleep in the same bedroom as you in the house we've had since last year,” Phainon says. “This morning, I woke up in an unfamiliar room that looks like it was built a thousand years ago. You weren’t in bed with me, there wasn’t a wedding band on my finger, and”—his eyes flicker to Mydei’s chest, a fiery blush blooming on his face—“you’re half-naked.”
“We sleep together?” Mydei asks, surprised.
Phainon deadpans.
“We’re married.”
(Phainon finds himself in a modern Amphoreus where he and Mydei have been married for years. Mydei finds himself with a Phainon that claims the two of them are married.)

Summary
“Marriage is a sacred act. This city may now be Romance’s domain, but Strife is Romance’s only equal within the household. Marriage is the conjoining of two separate bloodlines, producing both alliances and offspring that can elevate a family’s glory or plunge it into obscurity. The capturing of the… bride is the final opportunity for both parties to enter with their strongest foot forwards. The victor’s success is proof of their prowess, and Nikador’s blessing of the union.”
“And the defeated is unaware?”
“They know what’s to come, just not when. The victor comes and goes at their own discretion.”
First the aged scroll from Dawncloud’s library and then the conversation with Krateros—both had made one thing abundantly clear: Phainon had to kidnap Mydei.
Within Dawncloud’s library, there are records of an obscure traditional Kremnoan nuptial ritual: following the betrothal duel, the victor is responsible for capturing the defeated from their house and bringing them into their new household.
When Phainon learns of this ritual, he endeavours to fulfil his role as Mydei’s betrothed. Of course, it’s a little bit more complex than that.
