Possibly Cain said something about getting (inheriting) the mark from Lucifer. Maybe Dean galaxy-brained on his own how there is probably a reason for its existence, or just inferred from their track-record how yeah, whatever follows the cure is bound to be worse, if not for him then the world.
Might be that it was all just, too much. Everything. Living. Existence. Emotions. Guilt. Shame.
Whatever the reason, before he could kill Death, sink himself to the bottom of the ocean or get rid of the mark, to the end of season 10 Dean kills himself once more and then as demon promptly does the time warp, since no way would the Sam and Cas duo ever leave him any peace, and while the mark (and the anger) is easier to control/deal with as demon, no doubt the human perspective would aid.- Words:

Kaito had not been having a very good day, so when he saw the detective standing at the edge of the dance floor sweeping over the features of everyone else in the room Kaito thought it best to retreat to the buffet table and try to look as unassuming as possible.
When he caught the detective’s gaze directed at him, scanning his outfit like he was looking for something wrong. There shouldn’t have been anything wrong, he’d been careful putting together this disguise and frankly the thought that there were any flaws was making Kaito feel almost offended. He personally thought that he was rocking this dress.
He was looking at Kaito much longer than he seemed to look at anyone else… Does he know? What gave it away?
Kaito decided to stay calm and just hope he was overthinking things. If he panicked then the detective really would know that it was him, and then the chase would start.
Without a word Hakuba Saguru started heading straight towards him. So he wanted to make this dramatic.
Kaito could work with this.
