Nothing gold can stay... that's what they say right? Anytime Shane had something good in his life it never lasted, jobs, opportunities, friends... after awhile he just learned to stay in a shell. If getting close to someone was only ever going to get him hurt, why bother? After years of pain and suffering (emotionally and financially) he had no choice but to fall back on family. In a sleepy little town he once called home. Pelican Town, which was just as slow and dreary as he remembered. Life here was almost as dull as his life in the city, but at least it was quiet. 'Till one day, someone new moves to town. And he couldn't be bothered to care, at first. But there was something off about her. Almost as if she saw through him. Past his rough and gruff exterior, past the five o'clock shadow and hint of sour beer, to the person he once was. Maybe this Melissa chic will be the first person in town not to treat him like he's a ticking time bomb. Maybe she can counter all his cynical and rude comments with her own? Maybe she can pull him out the hole he's dug himself into, maybe for the first time in years he won't feel like he's holding on by a thread. Let's just hope he doesn't screw it up.
