I was transfixed enough to not notice when the dancing began. What a fascinating creature, I thought, to be brave enough to insult publicly, your own brother’s dead son. I wondered if he would still have that arrogance when everything that made him who he was, was taken away.
A morally bankrupt scientist ends up in Westeros before the Dance of the Dragons, but he knows nothing of the era. He proceeds to research magic and the fantastical side of the ASOIAF world, to continue a project he had failed to complete before his untimely death.
Or; Daemon Targaryen gets tortured for scientific purposes, and that somehow becomes the catalyst for the second Long Night coming more than 200 years before it's supposed to.

Summary
A short-lived series of private lessons took place after Christmas in Harry Potter's fifth school year, during which Severus Snape attempted to teach Harry the skill of Occlumency. The lessons were ultimately cancelled when Harry was caught prying into Snape's memories, discovering the strangest things: A mysterious prophecy connected Harry's fate with Voldemort's, Harry's dad was an insufferable bully, and Severus Snape had been in love with Harry's mum. Naturally, Harry now has a million questions. Snape would prefer to answer none.
The world is full of obvious things which nobody by any chance ever observes. The same question arises in every soul: "For what, for whom, must I kill and be killed?"

Summary
As Severus is about to start his last year at Hogwarts, a familiar stranger encountered on the train platform spurs him to try, for one last time, to mend his lost friendship with Lily.
“Otherwise Harry will die”, they said.
Well. He has no fucking idea who 'Harry' is, and Black is a particular pain in his ass even post-graduation, but Severus just cannot run from a challenge, can he?
After all, winning a war couldn’t be that complicated.
