The siblings go on a joint mission with Team Guy. Lee is a very good friend. Gaara learns to meet the rest of his team along the way.

It turns out that Gaara’s laugh is more like summer rain in Konoha, frequent, but it always catches Lee by surprise. And every time it does, all he can do is bask in it."

“Would that be a checkmate?” Lee chirps after a few minutes, setting a piece down with a click.
Gaara looks stunned, continuously glancing up from the board, to Lee, to the board, then to Lee, then to the board again. It’s not that he doesn’t have faith in Lee. It’s that Gaara wholeheartedly expected to win.
And he didn’t.[the one where Gaara loses at shogi and is such a sore loser that he consequently does not sleep for three days. Lee eventually has to take drastic measures.]

Truthfully, though? Gaara’s looking a little scruffy, no matter how cute the curls are. So, as Lee starts to get up and out of bed, he decides that today is the day. No matter what, today Gaara will let Lee give him a haircut. And just imagine how charming he’ll look after!

Lee has been there for nightmares, all-nighters, early mornings, and late nights, but from every little moment they’ve spent in bed together, there is only one category of sour ones: when he accidentally wakes Gaara up. The slightest thing will send his eyes springing open, and he will passive aggressively meander about the house for the rest of the night while insisting that he’s not mad, he completely understands Lee has things to do, and that Lee can go about his day.

“You were awake this whole time?” Lee says, pouting. Oh, he feels guilty.
“You are loud.” Gaara’s voice is thick with sleep. He doesn’t mean to be this shady, truly. Maybe it’s because he has no eyebrows that he comes off this irritable.
“Mmh. I’m sorry,” Lee bends down to press a kiss to his forehead. “I’m leaving now, it’ll be nice and quiet. I’m sure you’ll be able to fall back asleep.”
Gaara lets out a hmph sound and bundles further into the blankets.~~
