Summary
“A demonstration?” Jon asks, and the words come out very level, very careful. He’s still frozen in the same position, like he’s afraid he might spook off a bird that’s miraculously landed on him by moving.
Tim opens his mouth to reply, but only manages it on the second try.
“Yeah,” he says. “Hands on, you know. Let you get to see the thing for yourself.”
“And you would be tying up…” Jon says, trailing off into a silence that begs to be filled, answered.
“You,” Tim confirms, and he thinks he sees Jon shiver as he says it. “I couldn’t-- can’t tie myself up, after all.”
“But I can’t-- I don’t do that,” Jon says, as if remembering himself. He almost sounds disappointed. “I don’t-- I don’t enjoy sex. I’m very certain of that much, I made sure. I can’t--”
“Who said anything about sex?”

Summary
It’s only as he’s brushing his teeth that Jon realizes that he hasn’t thought about the end of the world all day.
Most day he wakes up from dreams of the ruined world. At the very least, it’s always in the back of his mind, guilt and fear and grief tapping intermittently at the windows of his consciousness throughout the day. He’s never had a day where he didn’t think at all about what happened—about what he did.
The realization jolts through him with a sickening lurch, like a missed step in the dark.
*
Jon has a good day, and feels guilty about it.

Summary
After the panopticon crumbled, Jon found himself alone in the dark, on the edge of space and time. Rather than waking Elsewhere, however, he stirs into September, 2011: before the Archivist, before the Archive, and long before the world had come undone.
The trouble is, Jon can’t remember much at all.
But he does know that something is different now. Memories linger at the edge of his vision, nothing is exactly as it should be, and there’s a certain tension in the air.
It’s 2011, and the sky is blue, and the world is quiet, and something is very, very wrong.
