    Summary

“How romantic,” Scaramouche said. “Next you’ll be suggesting other ways to keep me warm.” His cloak swept behind him as he turned.

    “Don’t tempt me,” Childe muttered.

Scaramouche shot him an unimpressed look over his shoulder. “It’s yourself you should be worried about,” he replied.

“I never worry. Besides,” as they walked to the back exit, Childe placed a hand on the small of Scaramouche’s back. Leaning closer, he added, “I know my senior is always secretly looking out for me, isn’t he?”

    Summary

“I did not expect to see you work as the Starshyna’s messenger boy,” Varka said with a relaxed, almost all-knowing smile. “What happened to Illuga?”

“Nothing,” Flins said. “The Starshyna you might try to steal him away from the Ratniki. It is more appropriate if I come instead.”

Varka had to find something funny in Flins’s half-truth, laughing first and then tapping his chin pensively. “Is he not afraid of me trying to steal you away? I’ll say, it seems like his judgment isn’t as sharp as he’d want it to be.”

Varka was a very touch-oriented person. Always clapping shoulders, patting backs, or holding onto his friends’ arms when he laughed too hard. Flins wanted to feel that for himself.

But when he had it, it felt shallow. He missed the lingering touches, their feet playing under the table, their hands gravitating towards one another. He wanted Varka to hold him and never let go.

It was a lot to ask because Varka did not belong to the graveyard or to Nod-Krai. He belonged to his family back in Mondstadt, whom he had never spoken to Flins about.

Because for the first time, it was Flins who was temporary—not the other way around.

    Summary

Jing Yuan regards her for a long, terrible moment—terrible, because she wants him to agree. Terrible, because she wants him at all. Then he lowers himself, posture perfect, onto his knees. There is a grace to it she has rarely seen even from priests of Lan, a testament to the discipline he has kept himself to for centuries.

"Fu Xuan," he says softly, blinking up at her through his thick lashes, hands resting loosely on his thighs. "Please."

    Summary

Diluc was an important man, in an important company. Or, that’s what they called it to avoid any skepticism, or run-ins with law enforcement. A company. Being higher-up in said company came with a considerable amount of danger, and so naturally, Diluc had two bodyguards that accompanied him most everywhere he went.

Ajax was his more forefront bodyguard. He did more of the hands-on work, telling people off if they get too close, defending when necessary. There wasn’t often a place for defending Diluc, but the odd time there was, Ajax was more than happy to oblige.

Thoma was more on the caretaking side of being Diluc’s bodyguard. He made sure Diluc didn’t forget to eat, packing things along with them just in case, booking their travels, making sure they were punctual and on-time for any meeting or event they were to attend. Usually these were not jobs for a bodyguard, but Diluc kept his list of trusted people very short, and found Thoma to be up to the task, and so he was assigned with such jobs. Besides, Ajax often had the physical protection fully covered, there was rarely a need for Thoma to step in at all.
