On a regular mission throughout the outer reaches of the Alpha quadrant, the crew of the Enterprise come across the most astonishing being they've ever encountered - but he's really not in the mood to bedazzle them, nor has he been for countless generations. In fact, he's not particularly in the mood to exist at all.(Alternate Universe wherein everything is functionally identical, but Q never encountered Starfleet in any form. Slow burn Qcard.)

When Nero emerged through a blackhole and destroyed the Kelvin, it sent ripples through the timeline that would be felt for decades, but the defining alteration for James T. Kirk and S’Chn T’Gai Spock came hours later - with the Lady Amanda Grayson holding a newborn baby in her arms as she stood next to Winona Kirk’s bedside on Vulcan.
Twenty five years later, every wound Jim suffers has the potential to kill, every action Spock takes is tinged by desperation, and their fates may be too tightly woven together for both of them to survive.
