Summary
While picking through the rubble of his old room in the castle, Hunter finds a journal once belonging to Belos documenting his grimwalker experiments. Hunter was most definitely not meant to see this, and Eda will do her best to help him pick up the pieces when the grimwalker bones in the skull finally come to light.

As a child Belos told Hunter that his ears were too big, his red eyes were creepy and the gap in his teeth was ugly, so naturally Hunter is now self conscious of those areas.
However once he learns he is a clone of Caleb, and sees that Caleb had small human ears, non-red eyes and perfect, gap-free teeth, he has a mental break looking in the mirror while homeless at Hexside.

Hunter is sick, really sick, but old habits die hard. He hides the fever, pushes through classes, and tells everyone he’s fine even as his body gives out beneath him. Showing weakness was punishable once. But Eda sees through his lies the moment he stumbles through the door half delirious and obviously ill so she forces him to accept her care and comfort.
Hunter learns that being cared for isn’t something he has to earn. It’s something he deserves.
