Summary
Whilst on break, Jon wanders around the institute library looking for something to read. Eventually he finds a leather bound volume with a scratched out bookplate. Curious, he takes it back to his office and cracks it open, intending to only read a few chapters. 2 hours later the archives has suddenly filled with people. People, who up until that point had been thought to be either missing, or dead to be exact.

Summary

Summary
The Archivist knew he was much, much different than them. Most mers didn’t have more than one pair of arms, or eyes, and were a lot smaller. And none had scale patterns quite like his- Hundreds upon hundreds of clusters of eyespots, irises a bright, sickly green that stared at you no matter the angle, trailing up across his chest and down his arms and tail. Everything about them screamed Danger!!

It wasn’t any surprise that they were the only mer here. That was okay, though. They liked being alone here, among the soft kelp and algae and sea-smoothed stonework. It was nice. Peaceful.

His eyes are at once dead and horribly, horribly alive. The milky film over his cornea does little to hush the luminous golden brown of his irises, huge around pupils so shrunken that Martin can hardly see them.
