Summary
Argenti has plenty of opportunity to look at him, properly look–the tension around his eyes are gone, the ever-present faint scrunch of his nose. He’s slack-jawed, hair pulled into a careful queue. He’s beautiful, is what he is, chapped lips and all.
Boothill’s metal body is splayed out. Hands bound above his head, crossed at the wrist. Flat on his back, neck supported by a thin pillow. Legs loose, parted around Argenti, everything on display. He’s not plugged in–had charged what he could during their downtime. The sleep is for his mind, but–he’ll be waking up soon, internal clock never variable. Argenti doesn’t feel guilty for starting early–his cowboy isn’t losing sleep.

Summary
He can still smell roses. His junior had visited, a knight in tow, and they all smell the same, really. The smell is burned into his nose and he takes another slow breath as he grabs the front of his slacks. Every inhale stokes the simmering fire hotter. It takes him far longer than he’d like to admit to work out what’s happening as he leans back there, massaging the front of his pants like it’ll help. The incandescent tug of his instincts to track that rose scent and take what he wants wars with the knowledge that who he wants is not at the other end. Sharp teeth draw blood, canines digging into his lower lip, and he sucks a breath in only for it to shudder through him. The curse surges with it, tugging at the edges of his sanity, and—he can’t go out like this.

“I was thinking,” she says, speaking over Phainon when she gets out a dangerous. “Would you be open to me joining you for one of your videos?”
Phainon stops. Just—stops. Her breath catches, her thoughts skid to a halt, and her eyes almost bulge out of her head. She tries to swallow, chokes on it, and Mydei snorts out a laugh at her expense.
“Is that so surprising to you?” Mydei’s eyes glint when Phainon glances over, and she quickly looks away.

“I heard you whimpering last night” isn’t exactly something you can say to someone over your morning coffee. Mydeimos knows that Phainon has nightmares—they’d talked about it before, before they’d moved in together, and she’d brought it up periodically since. Often as excuses to not go for their early morning run, but that’s neither here nor there. Still, it’s been a while since they’d plagued Phainon like this. Mydei is—she’s concerned.
She’s never crossed the threshold of Phainon’s room for this sort of thing but the thought had occurred to her to shake her best friend awake, to rescue her from whatever had plagued her. But, every time she’d approached the door, hesitated outside, the sound had settled to just the soft puff of breath. If the creaky floorboards of their shared apartment were enough to pull Phainon from whatever horrible things her mind was putting her through, Mydei resolves to never fix them.
That doesn’t solve the root of the problem, though.

“Yer sure about this?”
Boothill’s hat is dipped low over his face, hiding his expression. Argenti can picture it from experience—brows drawn tight, hesitation pulling at the corners of his mouth.
“Of course,” Argenti says, softening his tone. If he announces Boothill’s uncertainty to the world, the other man might decide against indulging Argenti further. “Your grace and precision during battle is far beyond the level of dexterity required for something like this—though, it is known to take some time to grow accustomed to the sensation, so I will stay close and catch you should you fall.”
For a moment Boothill flusters, ears tinging purple, fans whirring loud, then he’s settling again and lifting his chin. “Fine,” he says, sharp. “Fine, but if both’a us fall that’s on you.”

Summary
The five senses are merely an interpretation of a shared reality, sometimes altered or denied. Boothill didn’t need Penacony to understand that his reality is a lie fabricated by his brain from memories.
And deep in his chest, in the immense void left by the absence of concrete sensation, Boothill wonders if a man could ever deceive the lie in order to turn the emptiness into reality.

A throwaway comment about switching should’ve gone nowhere. But Phainon made the mistake of bringing it up again, and Mydei, ever the opportunist, decided to make an evening of it. A very long, very well-documented evening.

Argenti is dressed especially well this evening. Whatever business he was attending to required him to look the part of delicate beauty that he is, and now that he’s wrapped that up, Boothill gets to be the one to enjoy that view up close. His white shirt, thin and loose, is nearly sheer when it’s stone dry, never mind how it looks with a little bit of sweat soaked in. Tight, grey slacks show off those pretty legs of his, and right now, leaves nothing to the imagination as to what is going on beneath his zipper.
He looks an absolute sight, and it’s real, real hard to hold himself back from pinning his leg back between Argenti’s just to hear him cry out again.
No. Nope. He’s being good, he’s keeping with Argenti’s pace, even if it kills him.
