Jon flinches, wilting in upon himself. Deep circles bore underneath his eyes, and his hands shake too often for it to be the cold. “It was a lapse in judgment. It isn’t going to happen again.”

As Lucina peered at the clusters of fruit in a bowl, it struck her that all things considered it was nothing short of a miracle that her foray into Regina Ferox has ended up so well.
She could have been taken prisoner and tossed into Arena Ferox. She could have been run through by Lon’qu’s blade. She could have been felled by the hoards of Risen that had begun popping up before she even reached the border. She could have been attacked by the abnormally high amount of brigands in this time period. And yet, here she is in a room outfitted for one of the Khan’s champions, picking slowly at a bunch of grapes.

Summary
He prays it is just a distortion of the water when he thinks his canines look almost sharper. The persistent ache in his gums is working hard to prove him otherwise, but Simon cannot stop to think about that. He is on a time limit, and if he succumbs to his curse he does not think Death will be severing his soul from his body. He thinks he will get back up, and that makes him force his decaying body to move just a bit faster despite the way his muscles protest.

Summary
It could be worse. It could always be worse, they should be glad it isn’t worse- Toriel could be locked in a bunker starving to death like Undyne might be or flung into a Dark World with no idea on how to survive. They should be glad that the worst possible outcome is a bad hangover and not getting ripped apart by the Roaring Knight.
The music seems impossibly loud, cheer firmly in the realm of agitation. They could probably go down there to ask them to turn it down. They don’t. They can’t stand the sight of them, of their mother and the stranger dancing together, Toriel collapsed on the ground and giggling.

It’s an old tale, one baked into the blood and bones of all who claim kin with Ylisse’s line of Exalts: a great and proud dragon, laying waste to the land and all who dared to cross its path; a hero, noble and valiant and wielding a sacred blade, slaying the dragon and restoring peace to the realm.
There’s her father, noble and valiant and every bit the hero that Ylisse has always loved, as he leads his Shepherds to war; there’s her mother, great and proud and too visibly Plegian between her darker skin and the distinct slant to her eyes, according to the various noblemen and council members that still gripe at Father’s decision to marry her, as she stands firmly at his side and guides his every move.
—and then, her mother leaves one day for battle, and does not return. And then her father follows, precious little more of him returning than the sacred blade he wields. And then the sky tears open, and little else matters.
Amidst it all, there’s the roar of a great and proud dragon, furious after having been sealed away for so long — but wedged deeply within that anger is a pain that cannot be ignored. The dragon screams, and it bleeds in to the sky, and it burrows into Lucina’s blood.
