He’s seen others roll their eyes before he even opened his mouth. He’s watched friends he thought were special completely cut him off in one night. He’s seen Kohaku’s sharp attitude. Kohaku can be mean enough to do that to Aira, if he really wanted, and Aira would have no choice but to let him.

Summary
Kaname tries to be understanding of Tatsumi’s guilt. He really does. And he gets it, on some level, because he has his own to bear; his own anger, his own resentment, his fury over the injustice of everything. So he knows how terrified Tatsumi is of hurting him again. But Kaname is more than just his hurt, more than just a byproduct of the things that hurt him. He’s more than what was left behind. He tries to be patient and kind, because he does understand, but he can’t lie that this attitude makes his jaw clench, the hair on the back of his neck stand to attention, the air around him crackle. He can’t help that it pisses him off, just a little bit.
It’s a testament to both of their recovery, isn’t it? That Kaname doesn’t lash out; that Tatsumi doesn’t encourage him to.
