However, the customs of the planet’s people are somewhat unusual, and Spock, concerned that his behavior may be perceived as rude, comes to Kirk for his expertise.

“What, in the last,” Todd glances at his watch, “two and a half hours? Nothing.”
“Nothing,” Neil quietly repeats, and sighs. “I don’t believe that for a second.”
“What could I possibly have been doing?”
“I don’t know,” Neil shrugs. “I mean, even if you sat there the entire time, that’s still more than nothing.” He wriggles around until he props up on an elbow and leans to face Todd, squinting at him. “You can’t fool me, Anderson.” He presses a finger against his temple, and flops back onto his bed. “I know you’ve got a whole world up there.”Todd has revelations - some about love, but mostly about writing. They're the same thing, in the end.
