The kid is shivering now, and the sheen on his sickly white skin is almost glowing in the overhead lights. Dean stands over him for a moment, a wall of deja vu slamming into him so hard he almost sways on his feet. How had he done this when he was nine, when he was six, when he was four and baby Sammy was in his arms and he was running out onto the front lawn as their childhood home burst into flames?

Summary
It’s not like Sam doesn’t know what braces are for. He’s not dumb, and anyway, he has a few classmates with braces, silver smiles that gleam flatly in the light. It’s just, well. There’s no reason on this earth that braces should be meant for him.
It seems so... frivolous.
aka the one in which the author is deeply distracted by Sam and Dean's incongruously perfect Hollywood teeth and needed to find the reason why.
