It made her want to make up for it to Nancy. She wanted to make up for everything that she wasn't, and that's how she ended up with an open, cleaned out, decently sized closet, and most of the things that were on her bed on the floor, only the necessities remaining on her mattress.
She wanted to make a nest, something to show Nancy that they could both be safe and have security at a spot that wasn't just Nancy's nest. Robin was allowed to have a nest, too, right?

“We don’t have a thing,” Nancy said, but her eyes drifted back towards Robin. God, Nancy couldn’t deny it. She was adorable.
It was the first time in a long time she'd felt anything other than regret when looking at Robin. She had tried her hardest to erase her previous feelings, to dismiss them as a phase or a mistake or something not meant to be repeated.
But now, as she gazed on Robin’s smiling face, she felt nothing other than a stark sense of longing.
