All of Apo’s thoughts screeched to a halt. What? She looked up from where she’d been staring holes in the ground to see Scott fiddling with one of his cuffs, looking to all the world like he couldn’t care less.
“What? But I thought the whole point of this was-”
Apo was cut off by a wrist in her mouth, the taste of iron on their tongue and a grip which may as well have been made from it on her shoulder.
Looking up at Scott with fury as she struggled to be free of his hold, the man gave as close to a smile as he ever got (none of his expressions reached his eyes. Apo wondered if she should have aimed for them since he never uses them) and spoke; “I can think of a much better use for you, miss military. Drink.”

“It's not like I made it, Shelby,” Katherine had protested against the compliment, her black silk hair cascading down her shoulders and swaying with her gentle movements. “It's just a dress…”
“But you just look so beautiful in it!” Shelby had gushed, hands waving generally over Katherine's frame. “You’re so pretty, Princess.”
