It’s a curious feeling: exhilarating and full of fragile hope — like bathing in the beam of the full moon on the highest mountain peak in Serenno or diving into the deepest sea in Naboo, swimming down, down, down, to the place where the sun’s rays can never reach. It’s as if there are delicate, fragrant flowers blooming in her heart and shimmering, vibrant butterflies emerging to claim dominion over her stomach — cliches to which she thought herself impervious.

The throes of James’ fever had not released him yet. In his few moments of wakefulness, he has not been completely lucid, and does not seem to register Elizabeth’s hand brushing his burning forehead at all, much less as comfort. His tenuous fate does little to settle her nerves with the congregation of pirate lords fast approaching.
She thumbs the token Sao Feng had given her, kept secure around her neck. It would not do to sit idle and will James to wellness.
James survives the Flying Dutchman. Elizabeth oversees his recovery, and keeps herself busy in the idle hours.
