    Summary

“You are blooming,” says Viktor incredulously.

“I thought I had something from the Undercity,” Jayce says, ragged. But no - blooming is the polite word for it, and he’s never heard of it outside of the gilded streets of Piltover. There’s a cure - an easy one - in Piltover. Cait had had it once, as a young teen, for a girl from House Ferros. She had taken three weeks of antibiotics the moment her cough had become bad and it had immediately subsided.

Jayce could get to Piltover, but it’s been destroyed.

“I’m going to die in this pit,” he rasps.

(Or: Jayce contracts Hanahaki disease while stuck in the fissures. Viktor doesn't care, until he does.)

Something cracked. This time he felt it.

He blinked up at the sky, the clouds smudged and low. Smoke stung his eyes. He tasted blood and ash and something worse—regret.

    He might actually die here.

Not in a blaze of glory. Not saving anyone. Just one more body under Renata’s boots.

And all at once, he missed him.

    Viktor.

The thought struck like a live wire across raw nerves. Viktor should’ve been here. If anyone was going to finish this, it should’ve been him. Not faceless machines. Not Renata’s hollow soldiers.

Jayce clenched his teeth, the motion sending white-hot pain through his skull.

Damn you, he thought, not sure if it was grief or fury or both. You left me. You should be here.

    Summary

It was good to stand there, being close again, sharing the same space. John‘s cheeks were red from the cold, the tip of his nose, too. No matter how beautiful the falling snow was in the English countryside, Ghost couldn‘t stop looking at John.

Despite wanting to trace his features, brush over the small drops of molten snow on his cheek, over his beard, he didn‘t. They were very much out in the open, their arms just covered by the railing of the tower.

I missed you, he wanted to say, but didn‘t.

The low baritone of Simon's voice reached him like a shot of whiskey burning its way into his belly, equal parts warm, comforting and intoxicating.

The words were soft, though, not a hint of cheek in them, and wasn't that curious.

He wanted to go to Simon, push himself into his big body like a little boy pulling a thick, familiar blanket over himself. Wanted to kiss him hello, but he stood there, unsure what kind of cover the dark gave them.

Missed you, he thought to say, but didn't.
