Summary
I sent ART the edited file along with a snapshot of my recent haptic sensor logs, which mostly looked like [deleted] [deleted] [deleted].
ART took a moment to process that. Your difficulty with physical touch extends beyond merely touching or being touched by humans, it surmised.
I guess, yeah. I bristled at calling it a ‘difficulty’: it wasn't hard to touch things, I just didn't like doing it. But I had a system for dealing with that, so whatever, it wasn't an issue.

“Perihelion!” she whispered urgently, “What’s happening to SecUnit?”
“There is no need to worry, Dr Mensah,” Perihelion replied, “SecUnit has gone into an involuntary stasis sequence.” Its voice was calm and reassuring, though there was some other emotion underneath that Mensah couldn’t quite identify.

Murderbot is more comfortable around its favourite human than it realizes. Mensah and ART have a lot of emotions about this.

Summary
Mensah laughs under her breath, moving to snuggle Tainara back up against her chest and rubbing her back again. She watches through the window as the lanterns wink out one by one, leaving only the wide slash of stars illuminating the lawn. Reflected in the glass panes, she sees SecUnit turn its face toward her, starlight mirrored in its eyes. It looks at her with such open admiration that her heart squeezes. She feels an edge of guilt; to be so admired when she is so weak, so scared all the time.
She doesn't deserve it.
She pretends not to see.

Mensah leaned back against her desk and made an incredulous face at one of my drones. “SecUnit. You’re not asking me to help you with some kind of construct heart surgery, are you?”
“Of course not! Constructs don’t have hearts. I’m asking you replace one of four entirely inorganic pumps,” I said.
Convincing her was the hard part. The maintenance procedure would be easy and shouldn’t take more than two minutes.
(Spoilers: it took more than two minutes and ended up with me in Station Medical. Oops.)

“SecUnit?” she whispered.
The person lying on the bunk across from her did not respond.
“…Murderbot?”
Of course it didn’t respond. It was shut down, completely gone from the feed. The only thing alive about SecUnit right now was its organic tissue. Still, she couldn’t help but entertain the tiny shred of hope that if she called its name, it would open its eyes and look at her with that soft, world-weary expression it so often wore.

Mensah is reeling in the aftermath of the killware attack. Turns out Murderbot is not the only one who suffered a catastrophic systems failure.
