Cynthia didn’t promise. She wasn’t a liar, and she’d never lie to Ariana. But also, she didn't think anything was wrong. Just... off. She smiled wider, nodded once, and bumped her shoulder lightly into Ariana’s like punctuation.

She breathed out a slow breath, feigned an unbothered expression purely for her own benefit and picked up the phone with flimsy, practiced nonchalance.

Ariana's voice came in to cut in. "We just… share, darling." The girl teased, nipping at Cynthia’s earlobe playfully, all while her arms remained wrapped around her waist. “We’re more like… a V. And you, my beautiful girl, are the pivot.”
