“Oh gosh, I mean — shoot it!” She shouts again.
Her much more clearly defined orders pass through the comm and everyone moves to action, mounting the turrets and squaring them on the target.
But beeping arrows plunge into the heavy barrels, obscuring them in the flashes of explosions. Ice clogs the rifling of others.
A wave of sea-water brushes a squadron of troopers off of one of the high walls to the soft wet ground below, and a cloud of fizzing pink carves a path along the battlements, knocking down soldier after soldier in a blaze of bullet-like fists and kicks.
And the Princess of Power stands before Scorpia, blade of blue-gold level with her eyes.
“Scar-Ra.” Scorpia snarks. “Ready for a fair fight this time?”
“Scorpia.” She snarls. “You’ve already lost.”

“Stay inside, husband,” Sakura replies, donning her gear. He pulls up and helps her strap on the kunai, like a good spouse ought to do.
She finishes preparing, grabbing her clan symbol. She takes a step out of their house, then seems to reconsider it, turning back to press a kiss on his lips. Her mouth shifts to his neck, and he jolts when she sinks her fangs into the already marked spot.
Sakura leaves without saying anything more, but the shinobi waiting snicker quietly as she stretches out her neck and shunshins off into the night.
“Uchiha keeps him on a tight leash, ne?”
“I would too, if I had someone as pretty as that waiting for me at home.”
“I envy her.”
He doesn’t close the doors on their faces if only to keep up the facade, of obedient husband. And he’s tired. No time to fight with self confident ANBU.

The winter that Jackie Taylor stopped talking was an especially frigid ordeal. It had arrived in early October with a fury of flurries that quickly transformed, without warning, into a barrage of blinding snowbursts. By early December, blizzards blanketed the town’s tired streets with boundless layers of snow above ice above snow (and repeat). When Jackie stopped talking in early March, the spring thaw had only barely announced itself. As piles of compacted ice and snow just barely shed their layers, it seemed to some as if nothing was changing at all.
Unlike the winter’s subtle entrance, Jackie’s mutism appeared seemingly out of nowhere. Almost nothing comes out of nowhere.
Nobody knows the exact moment when Jackie stopped talking - whether her voice faded silently into the night or if it was suddenly stolen from her; that's between Jackie and God Himself.
Or: Jackie Taylor has suddenly stopped speaking, and even Shauna can't figure out why. It takes a night of shenanigans with Lottie and Nat and an unnecessary number of calls to Shauna for them to finally crack Jackie Taylor wide open.
